When I first started in this online blogging journey I was always told that starting an email list is imperative to managing and growing a blog. Over the years I have started, stopped, and tried growing many email lists and I still have a few left till this day.
This post isn’t designed to go into what it entails to build an email list; however, I do want to share with you a resource that I have used for many years in order to grow an email list. A lot of people will have different opinions, and different favorites when it comes to mailing list providers. One thing that can really deter someone from setting up an email list for their blog is the cost. With most mailing list providers you would be lucky to find one that charges less than $20 per month.
Many years ago when I was tired of paying so much for my mailing list I decided to sign up with Mailchimp. Back then they were the only mailing list provider that had a free plan that included an autoresponder. In the online world an autoresponder is an amazing tool when it comes to building your mailing list because you can offer your subscribers a free gift when they subscribe to your list.
For example I have a mailing list here on Becoming Press that is all about sending blog updates but when you subscribe to my newsletter you also get a free 5 week e-course on How to Study the Bible.
On my personal blog if you sign up for my newsletter you receive three of my eBooks for free (PDF version.)
This is the power of automation, once people sign up for your newsletter you can send them free gifts.
Everyone loves getting free gifts, and I am a strong believer that writing is a gift we give to others and it’s how we serve others! The thing with an autoresponder is that it often costs money to have one with your mailing list provider. Mailchimp offered it for free for several years and then stopped offering it for free, but us loyal subscribers who were still on the free plan were grandfathered in to have automation stay free on our accounts. This made it difficult to recommend people to Mailchimp for their autoresponder needs, especially if it was a new blogger just starting out and who couldn’t afford a big mailing list provider bill every month.
But I have GOOD NEWS! Mailchimp actually just announced that they are launching free automation with free accounts again. That means if you have a mailing list under 2,000 people and you plan to send less than 12,000 email per month you can sign up with my favorite mailing list provider and get free autoresponders to boot! You can read more about it on their blog here.
SO, if you are a blogger then I highly recommend starting a newsletter for your blog and including a free gift for anyone that subscribes to your blog. Mailchimp has now made it easier for you to connect with your readers even if you are just starting out. I hope this tool/resource is helpful to you! In this four week mini Bible Study you will examine your faith and what it means to have faith in God. When we believe in God we then learn to walk in faith and trust God. But first we must believe, and it’s up to us, we can either choose to believe in Him or not. But faith will mean nothing until we believe with all our heart that God is who He says He is.
5 STAR AMAZON REVIEW: “I really enjoyed this mini study. I like when things make you think and journal and you can focus on one aspect at a time. It was a great study.”
