Practice makes perfect in blogging, writing, and starting new projects. Typically I don’t care for the word “perfect” because I truly believe we are always Becoming. However, I will say that practicing might make something feel perfect, or at least make it really, really good. Perfection isn’t always about meeting a standard when we are talking about writing; instead it can be more about making sure that your blog, book, or new project is truly authentic to who you are, and brings forth the message you have in your heart and mind.
I am currently in the middle of a new project. Most of you all know I am going to start a podcast for writers, yay! I recently listened to a podcast about starting a podcast and they talked about practicing a couple of podcasts before actually publishing your podcast.
That is where I am at right now in the podcast experience, it’s the practicing part. I am practicing how to structure a podcast, creating an outline for my podcast, and I am learning how the tools work in order to put this whole podcast together. Hopefully, in the end it will be the podcast of my dreams, and it will accomplish the goal that I have for that podcast!
I love that I get to share this process with you all! That is the beauty of #WriterWedensday, as a community we get to share with each other where we are in this writing process, and we also get to share our knowledge with one another, too!
The Purpose of the Faith and Writing Podcast
This is really where I have been spending a lot of my time in this process, it is dreaming up what the purpose of this podcast will be. Like I had mentioned in the last #WriterWednesday post I do not want it to be about the technical side of writing. Although, I may talk about that every once in a while, the faith and writing podcast will mostly be about the part that faith plays in our writing.
Some of the topics that will be covered on the Faith and Writing podcast are:
- Encouragement through scripture.
- The spiritual struggles and hurdles we need to overcome in our writing.
- Addressing questions you specifically have about your faith, your writing, and the process that goes with it all.
- Growth so that we can be mature writers in our faith.
- Devotionals and declarations about writing and the writing process.
It Takes Time to Create Something New – That is Why Practice Makes Perfect!
I am sure all of you are aware that it takes time to create something new. I guess today my goal in sharing this process with you is to hopefully encourage you to keep going with whatever it is you might be working on.
It takes time to create something new, and I think we can often convince ourselves that this NEW creation isn’t worth the time or effort it takes – kind of like starting a blog or writing a book! It is amazing how new projects can turn into a major commitment of time, growth, and overcoming. But I will say, it is all so very worth it!
Are you in the process of creating a new project, blog, or writing a book? If so, share with us where you are in that process in the comments below so we can cheer you on!
