This study is a really meaningful study of the life of David. Starting with Samuel and ending with Solomon, this book looks at the political and spiritual factors in the life of David. Not shying away from David’s selection – by God’s own hand – to reign over the nation of Israel, and his very public failure as leader and king in his adulterous relationship with Bathsheba.
David is remembered both for his heart for God, and his public sin – and God places him as a central figure in the entire story of Scripture. Jesus is called the Son of David. David and his son, Solomon, are noted in the geneology of Jesus Christ – which was as important to the Jewish people as their own individual reputation and character.
What I love most about this study is the look at David as the human being he was – pursued by an insane king, who was father to his very best friend. Promoted from the lowest position in his own family to the highest position in the land. A man who loved God and still chose to plot the murder of a man in order to cover his own sin.
I have not completed this study yet, but I am ever inspired by the life of David to look beyond myself and my limitations to the God who knows me, who formed me, who loves me, and who longs to be in an intimate, personal relationship with me. David’s story is one that illustrates the love of God in such a beautiful way – long before His gift of Grace ever touched his feet upon the earth. Not a study to rush through – this is one to savor and thoughtfully consider.[I purchased this Bible study for my own personal use. Regardless, these are strictly my personal opinions. In this four week mini Bible Study you will examine your faith and what it means to have faith in God. When we believe in God we then learn to walk in faith and trust God. But first we must believe, and it’s up to us, we can either choose to believe in Him or not. But faith will mean nothing until we believe with all our heart that God is who He says He is.
