What does submit mean ?
In the Merriam-Webster Dictionary it says: To stop trying to fight or resist something. To agree to do or accept something that you have been resisting or opposing. To yield to authority.
Why does the Bible tell wives to submit to their husbands?
In the Bible, God’s Holy Word, it is written:
Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the Word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives. Likewise, ye husbands dwell with ( them ) according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your Prayers be not hindered. 1 Peter 3
God is the head or covering of Christ. Christ is the head of man. Man is the head of woman.
No, we are not to bow down before man, but to Christ in submission. Why is it so hard for us female creatures to submit? Is it because we won’t get our own way? Is it because we feel (feelings are not fact), as though we will have to button our lips?
Me, not be able to talk? That will never do! There is such a thing as the spirit of talkativeness.
God is trying to teach us how to be submissive as unto Christ.
If marriage is our school room, what grade would you get in being submissive? We aren’t ever going to be submissive to our husbands, until we submit to God and realize He is the boss. He is trying to help us and teach us so we won’t have to keep getting on the same bus called disobedience.
He is Omnipotent, all powerful.
He is Omniscient, all knowing.
He is Omnipresent, everywhere present.
God wants to keep us daughters from making ourselves so miserable in our marriages, and in our lives, as a whole. Whether we submit to God or not, is our choice. He is not standing there making us submit. If we Love our Father, we will want to submit to our husbands, whether we like it or not.
We are not a man’s property, or a prize. We are a gift to him and he is a gift to us. Our husband is our covering just like Christ. Like a skillet without a lid, we would make a mess without it, or without our husband to cover us and to protect us.
